About Giclee Printing

Setting a new benchmark for quality, Giclée printing allows an incredible level of accuracy in fine art publishing. The technique faithfully reproduces the original work of art in a series of tiny specks no bigger than red blood cells, so small in fact as to give the appearance of a continuous, unbroken image, even under magnification. Colours, tones and minute detail are all captured accurately and consistently producing previously unseen levels of realism.

As a permanent mark of quality all our giclée prints bare an embossed Seal and are issued with a hand numbered and signed Certificate of Endorsement.

Giclée, pronounced "gee-clay" is derived from a French verb meaning "to spray" or "to splash", and is used to describe a print produced using this remarkable new printing process. Giclée's are produced using a highly sophisticated technique which fires one million droplets of ink per second through special quartz stimulated nozzles. Each droplet is miniscule, just 15 microns in size and the resulting image has a perceived resolution in excess of an astonishing 2000dpi (dots per inch).

The Giclée printing process enables the use of the very finest heavyweight conservation grade papers which are sourced from mills around the world. These papers are used with specially developed archival inks. Data from imaging research conducted on these inks has indicated in accelerated aging tests a permanence in excess of 70 years. This in many cases exceeds the permanency of the pigments used by artists on original works.

The result is that our giclée prints have an astonishing level of realism and are unrivalled in quality or longevity. Many artists and publishers alike now regard giclée prints as an artform in their own right. In fact at the prestigious Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London giclée prints produced by the artist are now frequently submitted in the original print category. As we feel seeing is very much believing we ask you to judge for yourself and let us know what you think!, we feel sure that you will be impressed with the results our printmakers have achieved. Please remember that if you do have any doubts about ordering, we offer an unequivocal guarantee that you may return your print for immediate refund or replacement if you are not completely satisfied.
