Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali
Date: 1904 - 1989

Salvador Dali is the best known of all the surrealists and one of the most popular artists of the 20th Century. His paintings are characterised by minute detail, virtuoso technique and display great ingenuity and showmanship. He depicts a dream world in which commonplace objects are juxtaposed, deformed or otherwise metamorphosed in an often bizarre and irratioal fashion. Dali's pictures are frequently set in a vast sunlit landscape, reminiscent of his Catalonian homeland.
